Set a user’s permissions

How permissions work

What someone can see and do in Graysync comes from the permission level they’re given, such as Employee Level, Manager Level, Finance Level, High Management Level or Organisation Owner. You choose their level when you add them. See Invite your team.

Because many people share a level, changing a level changes it for everyone who has it.

Change what a level allows

  1. Click the apps menu (the grid icon) and choose Permissions.
  2. Click the menu (⋮) on the level you want to change and edit it.
  3. Use the tabs to move between areas: Projects, Settings, Pipeline, Media, Finances, Employee Loans, Tools & Access, Contacts, People, Timesheet and Announcements.
  4. Tick what the level can do and untick what it can’t. Use Select all to tick a whole area, or Reset to start again.
  5. Save your changes.

The animation below walks through these steps.

What you can control

Each area lists specific actions. In Projects, for example, you can choose whether people can create projects, view or modify other people’s projects (always, or only when they’re a member), delete projects, and see billing, budgets, forecasts, resourcing, time entries, scopes, settings, logs, feedback and briefs.

Tip: start small

Give people the least access they need for their job, and add more when they need it. If someone needs different access from everyone else on their level, create a new level for them. See Create and manage permission levels.
