Set up payroll for an organisation
Before you start
You need payroll permissions to see and run payroll. If you can’t see Payroll in the People menu, ask your Organisation Owner.
Each person’s pay comes from their profile, so check their details first: open People → Users, choose the person and open Job. Make sure their Compensation, Employment Type and pay schedule, super fund, tax file number and Bank Details are filled in. See Manage pay details and payslips.
The Payroll dashboard
Open the People menu and choose Payroll. The top of the dashboard shows Total Last Payroll, split by organisation, along with salary, benefits, incentives and taxes compared with last month, and a Payroll Breakdown chart.
Below that, each organisation shows its country, total payroll year to date and Next Pay Run Date.
Inside an organisation
- Click an organisation to open its payroll.
- Pay Employees shows earnings, a breakdown of taxes, superannuation and net pay, the pay Frequency, the current Pay Period and the Next Pay day.
- Use the side menu to open Employees, Benefits, Incentives, Holidays, Reports and Payroll settings.
The animation below walks through these steps.
Country rules
Tax and super or pension are worked out for each organisation’s country. For an Australian organisation, for example, the breakdown shows taxes and superannuation alongside net pay.
Tip: check before your first live pay run
Ask your accountant to confirm the withholding and contribution rates for your organisation before you pay your team through Graysync for the first time.
